On 10 April 2014, the Kuwait Ministry of Public Works received the $151 million USD (KD 41.3 million) Subiya road project completed by United Gulf Construction Co. (UGCC), as the Main Contractor. The project is the third phase of the Jahra-Subiya highway and includes construction and maintenance of 35 km (+/-) of roads with two spurs, to the Iraqi border and Bubiyan Island, construction of 3 bridges, as well as storm-water, drainage, sewer and other services. At the peak of production, UGCC had a staff of more than 800 dedicated to the project, and asphalt teams alone were laying more than 3,000 tons of asphalt per day.
